PouchWise vs Pouch Buddy
Both apps help you step down Zyn and other nicotine pouches on iPhone. They are built around different ideas of what makes quitting hard.
We make PouchWise. Everything about Pouch Buddy below comes from its own App Store listing, website and privacy policy, checked on October 28, 2026.

How the plans differ
This is the real difference between the two apps, so it is worth being precise.
Pouch Buddy hands you the controls. You choose a daily limit, in pouches or in milligrams of nicotine, and a goal date. You decide whether it comes down on a gentle curve or with a fixed cut every few days, and you can cut back gradually or quit outright. If you already know the pace you want, that flexibility is a strength.
PouchWise makes the first decision for you. It asks five questions (pouches a day, strength, how soon after waking you have the first one, years using, past attempts), scores your dependence on a scale modelled on the Fagerström test, and sizes the plan from that: roughly two days of taper per daily pouch, longer for a heavier dependence, never shorter than two weeks or longer than six. The daily allowance drops faster at the start, when it is easiest, and flattens towards zero. You see the quit date before you begin. You can try the exact same maths in our free taper planner.
Which is better depends on you. If you have tried before and set yourself a pace you could not keep, a plan you did not have to invent can help. If you like to tune things, Pouch Buddy gives you more dials.
When a craving hits
A single craving usually passes within a few minutes, which is why PouchWise puts an SOS button on the main screen. It opens four tools: paced breathing, a 90-second urge timer, a grounding distraction, and the reasons you wrote down when you started. Read more on what to do when a craving hits.
Pouch Buddy's own comparison page lists “no guided breathing exercise for the moment a craving hits” as a con. In October 2026 it added a way to tag what set a pouch off and see your triggers on its dashboard, which is useful for spotting patterns after the fact.
Logging and tracking
Pouch Buddy is built around the log. It records each pouch by brand, flavour and strength, can time how long a pouch stays in and the gap between pouches, and shows a calendar, charts and a heat map, plus a spending tracker by the can.
PouchWise keeps logging to one tap (in the app or from its Home Screen widget), because the number that matters is how many you have left today. It lets you fix a missed day from the calendar, and tracks money saved, pouches per day and milligrams per day against where you started.
Privacy and accounts
PouchWise has no account and no sign-up. Your logs are stored on your phone, with optional sync through your own iCloud. Its App Store privacy label lists only data not linked to you.
Pouch Buddy's website says you can start tracking straight away and only need an account to back up your history or add friends. Its privacy policy names Google Firebase for user accounts, and its App Store privacy label lists contact info, contacts, user content and identifiers as data linked to you.
Price
Neither app is free to use. Pouch Buddy's listing says an active subscription is required to track pouches after a three-day trial; its in-app purchase list ranges from $4.99 to $39.99 but does not label the periods, and most of its one-star reviews are about having to subscribe before using it. PouchWise offers a weekly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, with the price shown in the app before you pay.
Which one should you pick?
- Choose PouchWise if you want to reach zero on a date: the plan worked out for you, tools for the minute a craving hits, no account, and the app in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish or Finnish.
- Pouch Buddy may suit you if your main goal is a detailed log by brand and flavour, you want to track alongside friends, or you are on Android.
Not sure? Run your numbers through the taper planner first. If the plan it gives you looks like something you could follow, that is what PouchWise will run with you.
Questions
Is Pouch Buddy free?
No. Pouch Buddy is free to download, but its App Store listing says an active subscription is required to track pouches, after a 3-day trial. PouchWise is also paid: a weekly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Does Pouch Buddy have a taper plan?
Yes. You set a daily limit in pouches or milligrams and a goal date, and it steps you down on a curve or with fixed cuts at a pace you choose. PouchWise builds the plan for you from a short dependence check instead.
Which is better for cravings?
PouchWise has an SOS button with four in-the-moment tools: paced breathing, a 90-second urge timer, a grounding distraction and your own reasons. Pouch Buddy's own comparison page says it has no guided breathing for the moment a craving hits; it lets you tag what triggered a pouch.
Is there an Android version?
Pouch Buddy is on Android as well as iPhone. PouchWise is iPhone only for now.
Turn this into a plan you can follow.
